Warhammer 40K
Warhammer board games and figures
Warhammer 40 000 (or also Warhammer 40k, WH40K or W40K) is a tabletop wargame, already considered a legend among board games. It is very popular with modellers who not only play Warhammer as a hobby, but also take incredible care in painting highly detailed models. Warhammer 40,000 is set in a fictional sci-fi universe. It was created by Rick Priestley in 1987 as a futuristic successor to Warhammer Fantasy Battle (WFB), with which it shares many gameplay principles. At irregular intervals, a new edition of Warhammer 40K appears from time to time, modifying, simplifying or refining the rules. The game is currently in its ninth edition.
Players can individually build and paint sets of miniatures - that is, figures that represent soldiers, monsters, vehicles, etc. for a given world. The vast fictional universe of 40k contains many races and different factions, such as the Imperium of Men, Orcs, Eldar, and more. The conduct of each race in combat is determined by the game's rules, guidelines, and supplemental army "codes", which are published separately or together with other articles for example in White Dwarf magazine.
