Every winter the lake freezes. It doesn't last long, so we have to play as soon as possible and try to control the frozen parts of the lake before everything thaws and we lose everything. To win, choose key spots wisely before your opponent and dominate them. Show that winter has never bothered you.
In the game Winter, two players compete to have the most tokens of their color on the lake at the end of the game. The game is divided into two phases. In the first, freezing phase, players use their snowflake cards to create a continuous frozen lake. At the same time, they will try to secure zones where they have managed to group four snowflakes of their color using tokens. In the second phase, thawing, players will disrupt snowflake formation by moving and acquiring their cards and tokens of their color. At the end of the game, the player with the most tokens on the table is declared the winner.
Winter is an abstract game for 2 players aged 8 and up. Games last 10 minutes, during which the right decisions matter. It is a reissue of the 2016 edition with completely new mechanics.
Winter won the Cardboard Edison Award 2021. It is the first in a series of 4 seasons, which will later continue with the games Autumn, Summer, and Spring.
