Savernake Forest is a game where 2-4 players will be building their own part of the forest with paths where animals and food will appear. To achieve the highest score, players must ensure that each path allows the animals to collect their favorite treats. Foxes, hedgehogs, beavers, owls, rabbits, woodpeckers, wildcats... In Savernake Forest, up to 23 different species of animals live together. At the end of autumn, they are all preparing to survive the cold winter with plenty of supplies, and you are here to lend them a helping hand... Or paw! In the game Savernake Forest, you have two decks of square cards at your disposal, one depicting animals and the other forest paths full of juicy food. Each player randomly receives a card with an animal that specifies how much food it can store and its preferences. For example, the fox loves eggs but not berries or nuts. To achieve the best score, you must try to ensure that each animal collects its favorite foods. During setup, three path cards and one animal card are laid out for all players. Each player selects one in their turn and adds it to their forest, always respecting three rules: no two animals on one path, cards must be adjacent, and no card can be placed outside the 4x4 grid. The game ends once all participants complete their forest with a total of 16 cards. Throughout the game, players will have the assistance of some animals depending on the card they choose from the central market. The rooster will help you rise early to choose a card first in the next turn. The badger will teach you how to dig better shelters for storing more food, allowing you to take a burrow token and add it to one of your animal cards, increasing the storage capacity of that animal by 1. The goat will teach you to hydrate better, offering a water droplet token that can be assigned to food and increase its value by 1. And finally, the rabbit will help attract new animals to the forest. For players seeking more advanced challenges, the rulebook includes a two-player variant with some adjustments that increase the difficulty. A decent challenge if you already master the basic rules!
