Ve hře Ex Libris budete sběrateli vzácných tisků a knih. Ve vesnici se právě uvolnilo místo na Velkého knihovníka, prestižní (a dobře placenou) profesi. A všichni knihomolové o ni mají zájem.
Abyste starostu zaujali, musíte rozšířit svou knižní sbírku. Budete posílat na nákupy své spolupracovníky, aby pro vás získali ty nejzajímavější knihy. A nejde jen o to knihy získat, knižní inspektor bude posuzovat abecední pořádek, pestrost titulů, stabilitu polic a také to, jestli náhodou nevlastníte nějaké zakázané knihy.
Ex libris využívá oblíbený herní mechanismus „worker placement“- umisťováním vašich pracovníků spouštíte různé akce, jejichž pomocí získáváte knihy do své sbírky. Nabídka akcí je v každém kole proměnlivá a každá hra tedy nabízí jiné možnosti. Důležitou součástí hry jsou karty s více než pěti sty vymyšlených knižních titulů. Srdce každého knihomola u této hry zaplesá.
