From musical instruments to Barbie
The first product line the company produced was wooden musical instruments. From 1955, however, Mattel became primarily involved in the production of toys. In this year, the Barbie doll was also launched and became popular all over the world. Barbie became an icon of American culture and was even one of the best-selling toys in the world for several decades.
Cars, action figures and foreign acquisitions
In the 1960s and 1970s, Mattel expanded its product line to include other popular toys such as Hot Wheels (model cars) and Masters of the Universe (a series of action figures). Mattel also expanded abroad, opening factories abroad and acquiring other companies, including famous toy manufacturers Fisher-Price and Tyco Toys.
Mattel also produces popular board games
Mattel produces, among other things, board games for various age groups. Among Mattel's most popular board games is the simple but extremely addictive UNO card game, which has a tradition of over 40 years.
Another popular game from Mattel is Blokus. This is a strategy board game for two to four players. The players' task is to place their playing stones on the board in such a way that they interfere with the other players to score the most points. The winner of the game is the player who occupies the most space on the board.
