Alderac Entertainment Group, AEG for short, was founded in 1993 by Jolly Blackburn. At the time, the company focused on hobby gaming magazines such as Shadis - winner of the 1994, 1995 and 1996 Origin Awards for Best Professional Gaming Magazine.
