In the near future, megacorporations of the military-industrial complex invested trillions of dollars in the development of cybernetically enhanced cloned soldiers for exploration beyond Earth. In an effort to create strong teams for future missions - and mainly to secure lucrative government contracts - they created special training islands. On these islands, they are able to simulate all the deadly conditions their soldiers may face on distant planets.

To finance these expensive programs and military innovations built into their testing facilities, weapon manufacturers teamed up with media magnates to create and promote competitions broadcast live from the training islands. Thus was born "RELOAD," the largest television show on the planet, where the most charismatic and capable subjects compete in front of millions of enthusiastic viewers for glory and wealth for their creators.
