Far to the south of Last Ruin lies a village called Monument on a cliff. For generations, it protected an ancient shrine until the day a crystal meteorite fell on it. The inhabitants of the meteorite slowly crept into the world - bizarre monsters from nightmares that attacked anyone who crossed their path. As they spread across the land, they had no intelligent intent or grand invasion strategy within them; the creatures behaved like a fungus - sporadically spreading to new territories.

After many unsuccessful attempts to drive out the monsters, the people of Monument fled when their village fell apart, and were driven to distant lands, resigned to a nomadic existence.

Twenty years later, rumors emerged that the bizarre monsters were weakening. They are slower, less resistant to attacks, some are gradually petrifying until they crumble to dust. Is it the atmosphere? Are they dying of old age? Are they suffering from a strange disease? No one is sure, but as the news spreads, various factions turn their eyes to the empty, destroyed village of Monument. The original inhabitants of the village, now refugees, desperately try to return and restore it. However, they must do it quickly before someone else takes over their home. This is their chance. Now or never.

In the game Now or Never, you compete with up to three friends to see who can best restore the village of their ancestors and lead the rest of the villagers on their journey home. Although the creatures from the meteorite have lost much of their strength, many remain and you must fight them to protect the traveling villagers. Now or Never is the third game in the Arzium series of stories, which expands on the story of the games Above and Below and Near and Far.
