"An ancient evil lurks in the basement of a psychiatric sanatorium. There, members of an amphibious humanoid race prepare a ritual to summon their deity. The only people aware of the immense danger are the patients at Melville Psychiatric Sanatorium. Is this just a figment of their sick minds, or is the great Dagon really about to destroy reality?"
From the Deep is a major expansion to Lobotomy that brings five new game modules to the game, inspired by Howard Phillips Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. The Ancients, Dagon and a new character - Philip Howard - appear in the sanatorium.
New modules:
Philip Howard: Philip is another character that can be used in the game regardless of whether other expansion content is used. Playing as Philip requires advanced knowledge of the game rules. This character has the ability to take control of monsters and use them against his enemies.
Ancients: Ancients are a new type of basic monster. They cannot be found on monster movement cards. Certain conditions must be met for an Ancient One to appear.
Artifacts: Artifact cards are very rare rewards that can be obtained during the game. For example, a player can obtain an artifact card by defeating a Dagon. This module can only be used in conjunction with the Summon Dagon or Underground module.
Summon Dagon: This module must be used in conjunction with the Ancients module. Summoning Dagon occurs when a player character suffers damage twice from an Ancient One.
Dungeon: This module adds new game boards and ritual cards to the base game map. After you visit the Underground, you lick a Ritual card and evaluate it.
