In the game King's Road, players are nobles who are trying to gain power and influence in many royal provinces. When the king travels along the road that connects all the major landmarks in his territory, he allows the most influential noble in each region to rule in his place. Over time, the most favored noble will emerge victorious.

The Royal Road is a game of area majority. Each player has identical decks of eleven cards. On their turn, players simultaneously choose three cards to play and in what order. To win, players must not only influence the king as he travels through the land, but also try to read the minds of their opponents.
