With the combination of simple gameplay principles and the challenge that HYPERGRID brings, the game has the potential to become a league affair, much like chess and GO. HYPERGRID is often compared to these games, but its dynamics and tactical nature make it more like a three-dimensional version of a game of handguns on an ever-changing game plan.
The game has 3 basic rules leading to the creation of a line of the same color. One of the two players currently on the turn places two chips of different colours on a 3x3 grid of dots. In this way, they take turns on their turns until they have gotten rid of all their chips in five colors.
The game is language independent and simple in principle. However, it is also demanding on the spatial imagination, as in addition to the area, the individual tokens in the columns, called Pillars, and the unique effects of the individual token colors, called Elements, are taken into account. These can be triggered by the player at a specific point in time and allow the player to manipulate the already placed chips to form even more lines that yield victory points.
