During the second half of the nineteenth century in Ceylon (today's Sri Lanka), the alien fungus decimated almost all coffee plantations, causing a serious economic crisis on the island. James Taylor, a Scotsman, and after him a number of other entrepreneurs replaced the coffee plant with the tea plant, and one of the best teas of all time, according to experts, saw the light of day.

In the themed game Ceylon, players take on the role of pioneers of the local tea industry. They set up plantations in different areas of the island and at different altitudes. They grow and harvest tea, which they try to sell to the most important export companies. Winning the favour of local councillors or developing new tea processing technologies can also help them in this task. In short, anything that gets them ahead of their competitors.

At the end of the game, players earn points for having a plantation in each area, for fulfilling requests, for the level of technology development and for the amount of money they have accumulated during the game. The player with the most points wins.

The game is designed for 2-4 players aged 10 and up.

The rules are in English and Spanish. The game material is language independent.
