Bamboo games consist of 4 years or rounds, which are further divided into 4 phases or seasons. In their turns, players burn incense in temples to seek the favor of spirits and use bamboo shoots to perform activities such as seeking balance, cooking, improving the household, or managing finances. Adhering to the doctrine of domestic balance discipline allows for better optimization of household tiles, making it a fundamental pillar for progressing in the game. To acquire balance tiles, players must use the balance action and follow the pattern indicated on the tile, which always has something in common with the type of home tiles they acquire during the game. There are four classes of home tiles: decorations, garden, faith, or utility. Depending on how they place them on their board, players earn happiness points. In addition to household management, players must prepare for hard times. To survive the winter, it will be necessary to feed family members with tea, rice, or ramen that have been prepared and stored in the previous season. All this without forgetting to honor the spirits and ancestors in the temples. The player who has made the greatest incense offering at each sacred place will receive the favor of one of the seven forest spirits as a token of gratitude. In addition to helping players during the game, spirit tiles offer bonus points in the final phase based on the number of different spirits in each player's game space.
