Atlantis Rising is a cooperative worker placement board game where you must work together with up to six other players to distribute citizens across your land and gather resources to build a space gate that will save your people. Workers placed near the coast are more profitable, but there is a greater chance that they will be flooded and actions lost.

Each player draws a misfortune card in each turn, which floods certain areas along the shrinking coast of Atlantis or may otherwise act against your efforts to save the people. You must race to gather the necessary resources for the construction and powering of the gate before the island disappears forever beneath the waves.

This edition features completely new artwork and graphics designed to further highlight the thematic setting of the game. The Athenian attack phase has been replaced by the Wrath of the Gods phase, which requires more strategic planning and increases the sense of urgency. Now, instead of placing workers in the Atlantean navy, players must collectively decide at the end of each round on the flooding of a set number of tiles. To further assist them in their task, the powers of player-councilors have been expanded and made more visible, and the knowledge deck has also been reworked and expanded. The variable components of the gate no longer offer one-time bonuses after construction, but create new locations for worker placement, where players can send Atlantean workers to unleash actions that will help them save the island.
