Product detailed description

The Atiwa Range is an area in southeastern Ghana in Africa, consisting of steep hills with relatively flat hilltops. A large part of the range is made up of a reserve of evergreen forest, which is home to many endangered species. However, logging and bushmeat hunting, as well as gold and bauxite mining, exert great pressure on the reserve.

Meanwhile, in the nearby town of Kibi, the mayor is causing a stir by providing refuge for a large number of fruit bats in his garden. This man realizes the great value these animals have in deforested areas of our planet: fruit bats sleep during the day and at sunset fly off in search of food, looking for suitable fruit trees up to sixty kilometers away. They excrete seeds of consumed fruits and spread them over vast areas during their flight home. A single colony of 150,000 fruit bats can reforest an area of up to two thousand acres annually.

Just like the mayor in Atiwa, you know that fruit bats - once despised and hunted as mere fruit thieves - are actually incredibly useful animals that spread seeds over large areas of land. They help reforest fallow land and improve crop yields in the medium term. This discovery has led to a symbiotic collaboration between bats and fruit growers. The animals are raised as "pets" to quickly expand the area of fruit farms. Tall trees are left as shelters, providing them with refuge instead of being hunted for their meager meat. However, if you have a lot of fruit bats, you need a lot of space...

In the game, you will develop a small community near the Atiwa Range, create housing for new families, and share newly acquired knowledge about the negative impacts of mining and the importance of fruit bats for the environment. You must acquire new land, manage animals and resources, and ensure that your community thrives. The player who best balances the needs of their community and the environment wins.
